The 33rd Doha International Book Fair will take place in Doha from May 9th to May 18th. This event is poised to witness the largest international participation yet, with over 515 publishing houses from 42 countries present. The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center will host the fair under the theme "Knowledge Builds Civilizations." The Ministry of Culture has announced that the upcoming edition will feature the largest international participation in the fair's history.
Oman has been chosen as the guest of honor for this year's edition. The pavilion dedicated to Omani culture and heritage will showcase cultural programs highlighting Omani literature, intellectual achievements, and traditional art forms.
The fair will feature an array of activities, such as seminars, lectures, poetry evenings, and plays. Notably, the play "Caracalla" from Lebanon and a daily play organized by the Center for Theater Affairs will be performed on the main stage. The "Children's Oasis" will offer engaging and educational activities that aim to promote creativity and a love for learning among children.
In addition, the cultural hall will host literary sessions that facilitate a cognitive dialogue between the author and the reader. This year's edition will also highlight the growth of Qatari publishing houses, which underscores the country's support for the book, publishing, and creative industries.
