The 12th meeting of the Committee of Media and Awareness Officials at Red Crescent National Societies/Associations in the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) kicked off today. The meeting discussed several important topics, including the Gulf Red Crescent Day 2024, specialized workshops on media in emergencies, the GCC Red Crescent annual media report and plan, the pursuit of the MoU between the GCC Secretariat-General and the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization (ARCO), key training programs and topics of common interest, and selection of the date and location for the next meeting.
In addition, the event will also feature an exclusive workshop that will take place tomorrow for media personnel working in the humanitarian field under the auspices of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The primary objective of this workshop is to provide media personnel with specialized training to be deployed with relief delegations in response to disasters and conflicts.
The GCC Secretariat-General has demonstrated a robust commitment to allocating training courses for employees of the Red Crescent Societies/Associations in the GCC countries involved in covering disasters and armed conflicts. The training courses will enable the formation of humanitarian media teams that can be deployed to respond to crises and disasters effectively. The workshop is designed to focus on environmental media and will provide an opportunity to learn from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society's experience in this field.
