Qatar’s rising chess talent Khaled Al Jumaat has secured the gold medal in the Under-10 category at the Arab Age Group Chess Championships, held in Casablanca, Morocco. The tournament featured 216 players representing 13 Arab nations and was organized by the Royal Moroccan Chess Federation under the supervision of the Arab Chess Federation.
Al Jumaat delivered an impressive performance, scoring 7.5 points across nine rounds to claim the top spot in his category.
The Qatari delegation was led by Omar Saleh Al Marri, member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chess Association (QCA), and included international referee Hussein Al Haddad, along with technical and administrative staff supporting the team.
This participation forms a key component of QCA’s strategic development plan for youth categories, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to nurturing a promising generation of chess players in Qatar.
President of QCA, Mohammed Al Mudhahka, expressed his satisfaction with the national team’s performance, highlighting the importance of such tournaments in exposing players to diverse playing styles and enhancing their international rankings.
Executive Director of QCA, Hamad Al Tamimi, emphasized that this achievement is the result of the Federation’s long-term vision to develop chess locally by investing in youth talent and increasing participation in regional and international competitions.
