Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has released a set of safety instructions for individuals visiting shopping malls and markets, outlining how to respond when precautionary alerts are issued through the National Warning System. The ministry emphasized the importance of staying composed, complying with official guidance, and cooperating with security teams to maintain public safety.
Take Alerts Seriously
The MoI urged the public to treat all notifications from the National Warning System with utmost seriousness and to follow the directives provided by authorities.
Remain Indoors During Alerts
In the event of an explosion or when receiving an official warning, visitors are advised to stay inside the building and remain calm until confirmation is given that the situation is safe.
Avoid Open Spaces
The ministry recommended immediately seeking refuge in the nearest secure building and keeping away from windows, glass structures, and exposed areas.
Know Emergency Exits
Individuals are encouraged to familiarize themselves with emergency exits and evacuation routes within malls and markets ahead of time.
Use Stairs When Evacuating
Should an evacuation be required, visitors must use stairways and designated emergency exits instead of elevators.
Do Not Approach Suspicious Items
The public is advised to avoid unknown or suspicious objects and refrain from touching or inspecting them.
Avoid Filming Incidents
The MoI called on visitors not to take photos or videos of incidents or ongoing security operations.
Cooperate With Security Personnel
Following instructions from on-site security staff is essential, especially during emergency situations.
The Ministry of Interior highlighted that adhering to these guidelines is crucial to ensuring visitor safety and supporting security authorities as they manage emergency responses
