A new study by Safeture and Riskline has ranked Doha as the second safest city globally for 2025, behind Bern, Switzerland. The rankings, based on factors such as security, crime, health, and environmental risks, highlight the importance of strong infrastructure and low crime rates in ensuring safety for residents and visitors.
Following Doha and Bern, Melbourne, Montreal, and Muscat round out the top five, with Ottawa, Seoul, Singapore, The Hague, and Tokyo completing the top ten.
The Qatari Embassy in Switzerland celebrated this achievement, noting the shared recognition between both countries. Safeture and Riskline commended Doha and Bern for their consistent commitment to safety and security.
The study also raised concerns about increasing global travel risks, particularly in politically unstable and disaster-prone regions. In contrast, Doha’s crime rate has remained one of the lowest, ranking third out of 311 cities in Numbeo’s Crime Index 2024 Mid-Year report.
This ranking comes amid a general decline in global security, especially in regions like the Middle East, with countries such as Israel, Lebanon, and Libya seeing deteriorating conditions.
