At the second Qatar Foundation's Earthna Summit, themed "Building Our Legacy: Sustainability, Innovation, and Traditional Knowledge," students from Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education (PUE) actively participated by presenting their inventive sustainability and recycling projects.
The Earthna Village, located at Barahat Msheireb, hosted a community exhibition where students from institutions such as Tariq Bin Ziad School, Qatar Academy Sidra, and Qatar Academy Al Wakra displayed their imaginative creations using recycled materials to raise awareness about environmental issues. Academyati also contributed with its Education City Honey initiative, emphasizing the crucial role of bees in the ecosystem.
Yousef Al-Khater, a nine-year-old student at Tariq Bin Ziad School, also part of QF’s PUE, cultivated his interest in sustainability by developing practical solutions. One such solution was his design of a plastic container aimed at encouraging sustainable plant watering practices, demonstrating his understanding of the significance of resource reuse and waste reduction.
Hadeel Al-Sayed, National Programmes Teacher in the Primary Years Programme at Qatar Academy, emphasized that these values are strengthened through both environmental and social lenses. She noted that participating in significant events provides students with opportunities to articulate their ideas and enhance their leadership and communication skills, empowering them to make their opinions known and contribute to a more environmentally and socially responsible future.
